EDITOR'S LETTER
Architect Donald Billinkoff was conscious of both the environment and site restrictions when designing a family house in Amagansett. As he says, it also made for a more creative house. And landscape designer Craig Socia used his ingenuity to meet his client's wishes in creating a majestic garden that is friendly to the environment while being enjoyed year round.
If you are wondering what to do with all those vegetables and herbs you planted at the beginning of season, Victoria Amory gives you recipes that make sure nothing goes to waste. And speaking of good recipes, the new owners of HC&G's 2005 Idea House, along with designer Paul Siskin, have created an artful interior reflective of their personal taste.
Although in this issue we share with you a bit of green living, Cottages and Gardens Publications will soon be launching Verdant. It will be the nation's first sophisticated magazine covering all aspects of eco-friendly living. Come September, you will see two issues for the price of one: our annual Idea House issue (the 2006 house is open for the month of August in Water Mill), and the premiere of Verdant. We look forward to seeing you at the Idea House.
