THE 2006 HC&G IDEA HOUSE BRINGS CONTEMPORARY FLAIR TO A CLASSIC HAMPTONS LOOK
With the building boom continuing apace on the East End, we thought it was time to explore a typical Hamptons residence with our 2006 Idea House. This year's project is part of Calf Creek Court, a four-house planned development facing the Mecox Bay in Water Mill. In forthcoming issues, we'll explore different aspects of this house, built by builder/contractor Richard Gherardi of Sand Dollar Construction, who has invited HC&G to showcase one of the residences. We in turn have asked a team of top designers to showcase their talents throughout the interior and exterior.
This community of homes has been assembled in a style reminiscent of some of the more famous Hamptons streetscapes. Yes, there will be the imposing privet hedges, but each house has only one discreet driveway entrance, signaled by custom light posts. The master plan at Calf Creek Court calls for the "quiet" ends of successive houses (those with the master suites) to be grouped together at the property lines. The "noisy" areas (garage/kitchen/family room/pool) are also adjacent to each other. An agricultural reserve to the north protects the houses from the traffic on Mecox Road.
