2007 HC&G IDEA HOUSE TOUR
Designed by Soraida Bedoya of Urban Archaeology, the guest bathroom, which echoes the high style of Steven Walsh's Guest Bedroom, is a study in textures. The room is grounded by a bluestone mirco-mosaic floor created from 3/8-inch tiles that glimmer like dark asphalt on a sunny day. "Steven's room was fairly dramatic and I knew he was using a slate color, so I wanted to create something clean and heavily textured but not overly designed. I wanted to keep a relaxed, beachy feel," Bedoya says. She accomplished this by using a silvery straw wallcovering by Crezana Designs for a sleek, modern twist, and a heavily veined statuary marble tile on the shower walls. The centerpiece is a white statuary marble washstand by Urban Archaeology with polished glass legs and chrome feet. Pictures of women in meditative poses from the Robin Rice Gallery add to the tranquility of the space.
