Master Dressing Area
Plain & Fancy Custom Cabinetry

Accessible through a spacious dressing area designed by Plain & Fancy Custom Cabinetry, the master bathroom, designed by Urban Archaeology's Soraida Bedoya, is an expansive, light-filled space inspired by the browns, whites and grays characteristic of pebbles found on the shore. But it's also about industrial chic, typical of the century-old architectural fragments Urban Archaeology finds, salvages and reproduces. "We wanted to do something very soft and relaxed, but also something clean and urban as well," Bedoya explains.

Just below a striking bay window, the oval cast iron pedestal bathtub, which sits on a square-upon-square mosaic tile floor of Carrera, crema marfil and statuary marble, features an elegant nickel fixture with black accents. The twin Urban Archaeology washstands evoke 1930s glitz with elegantly stylized polished nickel legs supporting Carerra marble tops. Soft-colored limestone walls showcase alabaster sconces that are replicas of a classic 1930s design by Pierre Chareu.

Off of the main room, a his-and-hers shower features Urban Archaeology fixtures on opposite walls and a small wall-mounted bench. In the adjacent water closet, wainscoting below limestone tile surrounds a toilet and bidet. As a finishing touch, playful photographs of women in bathtubs and riding bikes, courtesy of Robin Rice Gallery, capture the pleasure of life in the Hamptons.

The spacious and functional dressing area in the master bedroom suite was designed by Plain & Fancy Custom Cabinetry. (The company also outfitted the second-floor laundry area.) The simple and elegant white cabinetry, combining wardrobes, drawers and shelving, fits in well with the beachy Hamptons aesthetic. All Plain & Fancy cabinetry is made to order, designed and constructed for a precision fit. Each cabinet is built using unique specifications, including wood type, size, finish, hardware and amenities, and is produced one at a time. Nothing is pre-made or warehoused. Instead of using fillers to address gaps or "dead space," Plain & Fancy designers turn those spaces into unique storage solutions or display areas. In addition to closets, the company also designs cabinetry for kitchens, family rooms, libraries and almost any other room in the house.
