THE 2008 HC&G IDEA HOUSE

For the past 29 years, John Stedila and Tim Button (Pool House) have been partners at Stedila Design Inc., founded in the early 1970's by Stedila. The majority of the firm's work is comprised of high-end residential interiors, the design of buildings from concept to completion and custom furniture design. Their portfolio includes retail spaces nationwide, 7th Ave. fashion showrooms, as well as a number of corporate projects. Current projects include a newly built 150 unit rental building in Long Island City, New York and the renovation of a high-rise residential building in Boston.

Stedila Design has created bathrooms, kitchens, model apartments and public spaces such as a health club, spa, hallways, playroom and other amenities that meet the highest standards of environmental responsibility for such green projects as 'The Visionaire', a condominium tower at the southern tip of Manhattan, which New York Magazine has recognized as potentially the greenest building in New York City, 'The Visionaire', 'The Solaire' (LEED gold) and 'The Verdesian' (LEED platinum). Stedila Design Inc.'s work has been published widely in books and magazines and has been included in House Beautiful magazine's "Top 100 Designers".

Tim Button has lectured on environmental awareness in design, as well as having been a panelist on the use of green materials. He resides in NYC with his wife and two daughters. John Stedila divides his time between projects in NYC, the Hamptons and Palm Beach.
