Panasonic recently introduced a compact digital camera called the DMC-TZ1, a five-megapixel model with a 10x optical zoom lens. It adds a new beach mode for shooting pictures in strong sunlight and an underwater mode for worry-free underwater shots. Panasonic also offers a watertight case for the model that protects it to a depth of 131 feet. The DMC-TZ1 goes for under $350, while the optional underwater case runs about $270.
Finally, Fujifilm recently introduced a new underwater housing for its entry-level A-series digital cameras. Called the Aquamask, the case is designed for the FinePix A400 and A500 cameras. When housed in the case, Fuji says the cameras can be submerged to a depth of 10 feet. The Aquamask sells for $80, while the A400 and A500 digital cameras that fit inside can be found in stores for under $150 and $180, respectively. Dive in!
