THROWING WEEKLY SOIRÉES FOR FRIENDS AND FAMILY IS SECOND NATURE TO AN EAST END FATHER OF TWO
Summertime...and the living, for many, can be anything but easy. That's especially true when factoring in the entertaining quotient of East End life. How much? How elaborate? How will it all come together? These questions can short-circuit even the most well-meaning host. Some just opt to turn the phone off after Memorial Day, forgoing hosting duties in favor of old movies and take-out. Others, though, make welcoming friends and family an integral part of the summer package.
"Having my friends, their kids and my kids around me on the weekend is part of what I love about my life here, and I do it as often as I can," says landscape artist Frederico Azevedo, owner of Unlimited Earth Care, a landscape company based in Sag Harbor. True to his word, Sundays have become something of a party ritual for Azevedo, who throughout the summer throws weekly get-togethers at his North Haven home.
For many, a weekly soirée would be an overwhelming undertaking, but Azevedo makes it look easy. Originally from Porto Alegre, Brazil, a country with no small reputation for partying, Azevedo was brought up in a European family. "It was a very cosmopolitan life where entertaining was done easily and often," he says. His weekly gatherings seem a natural extension of his East End life, which often revolves around his two children, Lorenzo, 13, and Livia, 8.
