EDITOR'S LETTER
My Style Secret
I WISH I WERE ONE OF
those incredibly fashionable people who simply ooze style from every pore, but at the end of the day I'm basically a jeans and T-shirt guy. That doesn't mean, though, that I can't admire/envy/ogle the effortlessly chic, which I do all the time. I'm doubly fortunate in this regard, since I've discovered a certain corollary while hunting for great interiors to feature in HC&G: houses owned by stylish people look like their owners (it's sort of like that dogs-and-their-owners thing).
As this wonderful, rewarding summer season of HC&G comes to a close, I marvel at the many visionary decorators, architects and just-plain-talented people whose homes I've had the great fortune of featuring in our pages—their work is beyond inspiring to me. And of course I've had terrific feedback from HC&G's many passionate, devoted readers, and for that I am eternally grateful. I don't know about you, but I can hardly wait till next summer.

Guess which one's not a fashion designer? That would be me, in the center, pictured with Scott and Kathy Formby, who are launching their new fashion label, no.1808, at high-end boutiques across the country, including Gail Rothwell in East Hampton. For a look at the Formbys' stylish Amagansett digs, see the feature Fashionably Great.
